Faces of the Dead - all 2000 of them

The NYTimes has this interactive that shows each person who has died in the OIF/OEF Wars by date, location, name, age, branch of service, and hometown. It’s pretty sobering to see these faces.

A look back at each U.S. service member who has died in Afghanistan or Iraq on the occasion of the 2,000th death in Afghanistan. 

Nearly nine years passed before the first 1,000 U.S. service members died in Afghanistan. The second 1,000 came just 27 months later, a testament to the intensity of fighting prompted by the 2010 troop surge.
